PHASE 2 ADVISORY

Dear members

 

Phase 2 is finally here! We are excited to reopen on 22 June 2020 (Monday) for Onyx West and on 20 August 2020 (Monday) for Onyx East! However, given the Covid-19 pandemic, Onyx will be implementing safe management measures at both 10 Science Centre Road 01-02 Singapore 609079 and Tampines SAFRA, to ensure the safety and good health of our community. 

 

Measures To Be Taken

 

  • Compulsory temperature taking at the main entrance of the gym for all visitors. Anybody with a temperature higher than 37.5 Degrees Celsius and/or feeling unwell will be turned away from Onyx and urged to seek prompt medical attention. 

 

  • All visitors will be required to check in on SafeEntry on their mobile phones and show the SafeEntry pass to Onyx staff upon entering the gym. Check-outs must also be done and shown to Onyx staff while leaving the gym. 

    • Personal details on SafeEntry are protected. Only authorised public officials will have access to the data.

 

  • All visitors must have the TraceTogether app installed on their phones and have their Bluetooth enabled for the duration that they are at Onyx. This is to facilitate contact tracing, if need be.
     

  • Masks must be worn by default: masks are to be taken off only at the start of classes, and put back on immediately after the end of classes. 

 

  • A physical distancing of 2m (2 arms-length) must be kept from others at all times. 

 

  • Disinfection of the gym, inclusive of all surfaces and equipment, will occur at the end of every class.

Class Schedule, Class Structure, & Booking System 

 

In line with Sports Singapore’s advisory on 17 June 2020, we will be applying the principles of safe distancing to all classes. This will be done by (a) modifying the Onyx class schedule, (b) implementing a booking system, and (c) modifying the class structure. 

 

  • Class Schedule for Phase 2 onwards

    • All classes (Muay Thai, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Iron Lab) will be 60 minutes long.

      • Kids Muay Thai classes will resume from 1 July 2020 for Onyx West and from 22 July 2020 for Onyx East. The classes will be 50 minutes long. 

      • All Kids Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes will be suspended until further notice. 

    • All groups will have a maximum ratio of 1 trainer: 5 participants. Members are required to pre-book their class before turning up. Members without prior booking will NOT be allowed into the gym. 

 

  • Booking System for Phase 2 onwards

    • Class slots are available for pre-booking up to 48 hours before the scheduled starting time. 

    • Please Whatsapp the Onyx hotline at 8168 0661 to book a class slot. DO NOT call or SMS the Onyx hotline. 

      • Please state (1) your full name, (2) which Onyx location (West or East), and (3) up to TWO preferred class slots for the upcoming 48 hours.

    • You may book a slot for yourself only. 

    • Upon confirmation of the slot (through a Whatsapp from the hotline or verbally over the phone), you are expected to attend the class. 

    • Cancellations (if any) must be made at least 4 hours in advance. For 7am/8am classes, cancellations must be made before 8pm the night prior. 

    • Members who are no-shows for whatever reason may be barred from booking classes for the next 7 days. 

    • Class bookings will be done on a first-come-first-served principle.

    • For peak period classes (weekday evenings), we recommend booking classes only on alternate days, so that more members are able to get their dose of endorphins. Drop-ins may be possible for other time slots, but dependent on capacity and always subject to prior confirmation from the Onyx hotline. 

 

We understand that the pre-booking system is a major change from what the Onyx way was. Given that there are limited slots and to ensure accessibility to all members, we seek everyone’s patience and understanding if you are unable to get your selected slots.

 

  • Class Structure for Phase 2 onwards

    • Muay Thai, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Kids Muay Thai

      • A physical distance of 2m must be kept between members at all times. 

      • There will be no full-body contact activities, e.g. sparring and clinching.

      • BJJ will be modified with distancing and no-contact considerations at Onyx West. For Onyx East, BJJ classes will be suspended until further notice. 

      • Members are not to loiter in the gym after training has ended. 

      • All personal belongings and equipment must be brought home. 
         

    • ​Iron Lab

      • A physical distance of 2m must be kept between members at all times.

      • The majority of Iron Lab classes will be held outdoors, so please bring your running shoes to all Iron Lab classes. 

      • Classes may be relocated to temporary locations, outside of 10 Science Centre Road. If this is done, information will be disseminated beforehand via the Iron Lab Whatsapp group chat.

 

Personal Advisory

 

Given the highly contagious nature of Covid-19, we seek everyone’s help to minimise the risks to the community. Please ensure high levels of personal hygiene, by washing your hands frequently and minimise the touching of your face while outdoors. 

 

As there are many reports of patients with mild symptoms, please do not attend classes if you are feeling even a bit unwell. If you find the need to cough or sneeze, please cover your nose and mouth when doing so, and excuse yourself from the gym until you feel better. 

 

If you have a fever, runny nose, sore throat, cough, fatigue, body aches, and shortness of breath, please seek immediate medical attention for PHPC clinics at https://www.flugowhere.gov.sg/ 

 

As a rule of thumb, please refrain from attending classes for at least 5 days from the onset of symptoms, even if the symptoms have subsided, unless otherwise specified by a medical professional or the Ministry of Health.

 

End Note

 

We understand that everyone is itching to get back into action and resume training as usual. However, this will be the new normal, as there are some of us who are more vulnerable to the illness and we need to take precautions to ensure everyone’s health and safety. As the situation may evolve over the coming weeks, we will continue to monitor and adapt to the instructions from the Ministry of Health. 

 

After going through Circuit Breaker and Phase 1 in isolation, it has made us believe even more in the importance of togetherness in spirit. Let’s work out and work together in maintaining a safe environment for all! It has been a long time coming, the Onyx spirit: of good cheer in the face of difficulties even when we are physically 2 metres apart.
